The Codecs is the most crucial part of any rip. PowerRipper has an internal encoder support and ACM encoder support. With ACM encoder support this means PowerRipper can support any ACM compliant codec. Although at the moment only the ones provided have been tested. If you require a different codec or encoding format, you are welcome to try, although there is no guarantee it will function properly, support multiple encodes simultaneously, or generate desired results.

As part of the Windows Media Player 10.0, there is a Fraunhofer MP3 ACM codec included. There are actualy two Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer 3 Codecs, a standard and professional. The standard is the one shown in the ACM codec list by default, if you want to upgrade to the professional, you'll need to do the following:
1. backup your l3codeca.acm in your windows system32 directory
2. copy l3codecb.acm to l3codeca.acm
3. restart PowerRipper
Please note that the professional Fraunhofer encoder does not support multiple encodings simulateneouly.
WMA Support also includes customizable WMA formats based on profiles.
